The Monday Blog!

Good Morning to all the readers (I keep telling this because a never-say-die hope whispers to me that maybe someday someone will comment "Good Morning" to you too following a "Stop Writing, Please!" note!). Monday isn't a good day to start work (neither are the other days) but we aren't like Kasab who gets free kabab even for killing India (This is not exaggeration). So get going (don't kill your boss, it's injurious to your wealth!).

While writing this post, I recently observed that our day starts with the twin bro of 0 (zero) that is O (15th alphabet of English. You need to count?!?! Go to sleep). It comes once in "Morning", twice in "Afternoon" and none in "Evening" and "Night" (even Monday has one. So leave your work on other days! LOL, I think). Nice, isn't it?. So don't start your work from morning, leave it for night! Good luck! :P

By the way, I saw few hindi films of and some Hollywood flicks too recent era. The hindi's list was "Wanted", "Robot" (if you consider), "K3G" (I remember that unlucky day!) and a banned (but available on the Internet) "Paanch" (I have already seen it but you know after looking the above ones (Wanted...) one needs to refresh the definition of movies). Before discussing anything else, I saw other Holly movies too, which included "Inception", "Shutter Island", "Pirates Of...Dead Man's Chest/Stranger Tides", "Source Code", "King's Speech", "127 Hours" and a bit of "Gran Torino" (You can spot a difference in the quantity of movies here. Wait for it).

I respect all the Indian film makers (have to say this :P) and their desparation of not winning or making to the Oscars. No doubt, Oscar isn't the only limit and the benchmark. But I would really request all my readers that if you haven't seen any of the above Hollyflicks just go for it and then (you should really try this) pick up any Hindi movie of SRK, KJo, YCho (They sound more like Chinese people) and Bebo (aur bhi hai, lekin rehno do). I am damn sure(st) that you will go insane. One of my favorite writers Aseem Chhabra (a very well known writer), generally comments on Hindiflicks releasing in International festivals. He says that our films are reflecting a kind of Renaissance. I disagree. It maybe an extremely insignificant part who do this. I will say here that of all the above mentioned HinFlicks "Paanch" is just out of category. If Ra.One is to be hyped for its technical surrealistic approach, if SRK is the superstar, if Dabanng (another "g"?) is the best movie after Sholay then folks stop reading this post, as it will hurt you.

"Inception" was a superb craft and rather "Dabba(ngg)" it should be studied. "Shutter Island" is an unmatchable medico-psycho-realistic thriller (can you describe any Hindi movies like this?) and many else. I still believe that old Hindi movies like Shekhar Kapoor's "Masoom" and all are a charm. But we Indians have a bad habit to boast about our fabulous yore and criticize the present. Lemme come now to the point (long way, huh?). We can't make Oscar winning films (even considering)!

"Lagaan" was an emotional film which again took up the cliched subject of Good Indians-Cruel British (in that a good British falls in love. Stereotype!) and a new Cricket Masala. Its hard to digest its nomination to Oscars. "Slumdog..." (can we consider it to be a Hindi one? Let us assume...) a movie with at least a message that whatever happens in life is the answer to our next question (good story!), etc. We copy the subject but alas, we aren't good even at copying. We can't think of subject. We can't think of cinematography, we can't think of a superb logic, we can't (because for us, Ash walking the Cannes is more important than "Udaan" being screened there! Whooops!).

Let me give you a list of few amazing Indian films which I really think might have made for the Oscars (atleast equivalent). "Black Friday", "Paanch" (very disturbing. Will shake you for life), "Masoom" (very cute), "Khamoshi", "Black" (Nice copy), "Teen Patti" (just for its sheer logic of mathematical probability. Else its a dumb one), "Gulaal" (why you should join politics), "Maachis" (disturbing yet captivating) of course "A Wednesday" (speechless) and "Aamir" (I came to know that Aamir was a copy. But then, Whaataa copppyyy! Awesome!), etc. apart from the faltu shehnai and sherwani and Hindu-Muslim bhai bhai mantra made movies. I haven't seen "Shaitan" but I have full expectations from it being a weirdly gripping movie.

Our classy movies are now becoming more like sophisticatedly vulgar (Delhi Belly songs. Shit!). Mass based movies are pathetic and have a puking feeling after watching them. If you gonna blame Rajnikant for such monkey type style then Salman is becoming the Rajni of bollyfolly. Astonishingly, nowadays rip off of contemporary films are done (truly irritating). Wanted ≈ Dabanng ≈ Singham (upcoming) ≈ Bbudhaa Tera (offensive name itself!). Why? Years before people used to tell that films are made just to keep the black underworld money moving. Our research is falling short. Our style of films is falling short. "No Smoking" was a childish film but I bet it was an Indian Inception (for logic of dream) much before the Hollywood film.

Let's categorize few good actors and directors. Actors are: Amitabh Bacchan, Abhay Deol, Ranbir Kapoor (from Rocketsingh not from APKGK), R. Madhavan, Aamir Khan, Konkona Sen, Priyanka Chopra, Kay Kay Menon, Nana Patekar, Rajat Kapoor etc. (only 4-5, which I am unable to remember). Directors: Anurag Kashyap (don't argue for him with me), Shimit Amin, Dibakar Banerjee, Kukunoor, Bhandarkar, Ramu (he is a genius. Don't underestimate him.), Mani Ratnam, Farhan Akhtar etc. (Same: Can't remember few others). I think we should go for films not by the star cast but checking the director and story writer. I still remember how I wasted my precious bucks just by going for a star cast of Kareena and Akshay for Kambakkht Ishq. If worst is to be defined then this is it. The movie showed wastage of bucks and absence of matter. How can you make such films? I doubt whether this film makers do see their films?

This long post is a long warning for those who have bought their tickets to watch "Ready" by Salman Khan. Go for "Shaitan" not for Salman!
